Bank Indonesia, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, has partnered with Taman Bacaan Pelangi in the Library Revitalization Program. This program aims to provide access to high-quality children’s books and revitalize school library spaces by improving library infrastructure and adding features that make libraries more appealing for children. Additionally, the program focuses on capacity-building for school principals, teachers, and librarians, as well as raising parental awareness about the importance of reading.

SDK St Teresia Danga’s Library After Receiving Revitalization Assistance from Bank Indonesia

Launched in October 2024, the program targets five schools in Nagekeo district that have received support, namely SD Negeri Fataleke, SDK Yohanes Paulus II, SDK St Markus, SDK Lape, and SDK St Teresia Danga. Each school has received assistance in the form of renovation funds for library spaces, high-quality children’s books, bookshelves, tables, smart TVs, and art and writing supplies. In total, the program has provided over 3,700 children’s books, benefiting more than 890 students, while around 80 teachers and 209 parents have received training. A notable aspect of this initiative is the availability of smart TVs in the libraries of all five schools, enabling access to digital book platforms. During reading sessions with students, teachers can utilize not only physical books but also digital books.

The five schools have warmly welcomed the program. The principal of SDK St Teresia Danga, Bibiana Maria Mbola, expressed her gratitude stating, “We are very grateful to Bank Indonesia and Taman Bacaan Pelangi for providing library revitalization support to our school. Our school library is now more attractive, and our collection of children’s storybooks has significantly expanded. Previously, our library only had textbooks and Kunang-Kunang storybooks. We hope that children will be more excited to visit the library and read regularly, so they can excel academically and improve their literacy.”
