#AGiftToGive: the Gift That Keeps on Giving

Last year representatives from Mal Ciputra Jakarta approached us and told us about their interest in supporting Taman Bacaan Pelangi’s cause, and the ‪#‎AGiftToGive‬ program was born.

Starting from December last year, hundreds of nutcracker shaped penny banks were made and sold. All of it’s proceeds were given to Taman Bacaan Pelangi. As part of the #AGiftToGive program was distributing tin penny banks to Kalam Kudus schools throughout Jakarta.

The children were given the option to set aside some of their pocket money fill the penny banks and once it’s full, they will drop it off at a giant nutcracker penny bank located at Mal Ciputra.

The money collected along with the proceeds of the penny banks will all be collected and donated to help East Indonesian children to have good quality books and libraries in remote regions.

In total the children of Kalam Kudus managed to collect Rp 31.322.200 and the total of funds raised from the penny banks and a donation from Ciputra were Rp 128.234.700.

This broke the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for most funds raised through money saving initiative by students.
