The last 2 weeks have been very busy yet exciting for Rainbow Reading Gardens. After 10 months of preparation, the 8 new libraries that we have build in partnership with Room to Read have been officially opened.
Teachers, parents and students came toggether to celebrate the opening ceremony with much joy and pride. After 10 rigorous months, they can finally see the fruits of their labor. We were welcomed with various traditional West Manggarai customs. Students were eager to perform the Jai dance from the Bajawa tribe, the Congka Sai dance and as well as many other performances.
The 8 new libraries are located in Flores. They are SDI Wae Nakeng, SDI Werang, SDI Kondas, SDI Tondong Raja, SDI Merombok, SDN Labuan Bajo 1, SDN Labuan Bajo 2, and SDI Nggorang.
The opening ceremony of the 8 libraries was attended by Rainbow Reading Gardens’ founder, Nila Tanzil. As of now, Rainbow Reading Gardens has 37 libraries spread out within 14 islands in Eastern Indonesia.
We hope that the school’s joy and dedication we have witnessed through out the ceremonies will continue to grow and cultivate the children’s love for reading.
Let’s increase the reading interest of the children of eastern Indonesia!
