Drive Books Not Cars (DBNC) was held on Sunday, November 23rd 2014. Started from 07.00 AM to 12.00 PM at FX Sudirman. We had a lot of people coming to the event from different walks of life, from children, youth, students, employees, entrepreneurs, artist, and many more!
At the event, we also got so many volunteers who helped us. They were all wearing red t-shirt. Some volunteers were not only help selling but also buying the books at the same time! Most of these volunteers also showed up 1 day before during the book sorting day event. We were so thankful for their great help!
That Sunday, we were blessed by nice weather. Once in a while, the wind blew.. giving some fresh air to the volunteers who were manning the book stands under the bright sun. Nice!
To attract people to come to our event, some of the volunteers went down to the Sudirman street carrying some books for sale and asking people to visit the book sale. Funnily, some people, who were in the middle of their sport, bought the books directly from them! 😀
Most of the people who came to the event wanted to buy the classic fiction and science fiction, such as the Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Kaplan, even Harry Potter. Unfortunately, some of them didn’t get the books that they wanted. They also asked DBNCs would be held again sooner and more often.
From the Sunday event, we managed to generate Rp 24 million! Wow!!!
This event wouldn’t succeed without hard working of the volunteers. You guys were awesome!!
Thank you to everyone who have came to the event and bought a bunch of books.
Yesterday was one of the best days we’ve ever had, because we could feel the positive vibe from the crowd. They shared stories, laughed and had a great time.
On behalf of the kids at Taman Bacaan Pelangi, we wanted to thank Drive Books Not Cars Indo Relawan Count Me In for all the hard work in making this event successful.
The fund generated from this event would be donated to increase the quality of the education of children in Eastern Indonesia through Rainbow Reading Gardens and to send street kids back to school via Sahabat Anak.
Thank you guys!! See you in the next DBNC’s event. 😀
