Closing the year of 2012, Taman Bacaan Pelangi [Rainbow Reading Gardens] decided to celebrate it by establishing its 25th library! This time was in… Banda Neira Island in Maluku! Banda Neira Island is one of the nine islands of Banda. Back in the days, Banda Islands was known as the Spice Islands. It was the “most wanted” place in the world due to its richness of nutmeg, mace, and other spices. We were very happy to be able to set up a library on this historical island of Banda Neira. The island was still full of historical buildings, back from the colonial era. Even Taman Bacaan Pelangi [Rainbow Reading Gardens] here is located in one of those beautiful colonial houses!  We’re very lucky to get such a spacious room in a nice old colonial house in Banda Neira Island. We would like to end the 2012 by establishing one more children’s library in Eastern Indonesia. This time, we want to greet the kids in… Banda Neira Island, Maluku!!! We’re very excited! This will be the first location of Taman Bacaan Pelangi [Rainbow Reading Gardens] in Maluku and will be the 25th library that we set up in the course of 3 years! For the upcoming library in Banda Neira Island, we collaborate with Warna-Warni Kids , a non-profit organization focusing on raising children’s awareness on environmental, arts and culture. On November 15th and 16th, 2012, Taman Bacaan Pelangi [Rainbow Reading Gardens] held a two-day workshop for our volunteers who manage our libraries in Flores. The workshop was presented by Ms. Murti Bunanta, a famous children’s books writer in Indonesia and also the founder of Kelompok Pencinta Bacaan Anak (KPBA) or in English its known as the Society for the Advancement of Children’s Literature, and Ms. Dina Tuasuun, her assistant. The two-day workshop was held at La Veria Restaurant in Labuan Bajo and attended by 30 participants from 15 locations of Taman Bacaan Pelangi in Flores! Wow! It was awesome! Volunteers came from 15 villages, even the ones which were far faaaar awaaayyy! We’re all happy to be in one place and learned new things together. Satu hari yang tak terlupakan di NTT, yaitu mendatangi Sekolah Dasar Roe di Kecamatan Cunca Lolos, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Saya adalah salah satu mahasiswi “Pertanian” yang beruntung dapat kesana. SD ini terletak tak jauh dari Taman Nasional Pulau Komodo, pulau yang memiliki pemandangan yg eksotis dengan sejuta trumbu karang dan ikan yang sangat indah. Sayangnya, Keeksotisannya lantas tak membuat pendidikan disana tertata rapi. Bekerja sama dengan Taman Bacaan Pelangi kami mengunjungi SD tersebut untuk meningkatkan minat baca anak-anak. Untuk menggapai SD ini, kita memerlukan waktu sekitar 1,5 – 2 Jam perjalanan kearah pegunungan. Selama perjalanan menuju SD Roe, kendaraan kita melewati jalan lintas provinsi, jalan yang hanya cukup untuk berpapasan dua mobil. Perjalanan melintasi jalan lintas Flores ini terbilang sangat lancar dan walaupun terlihat beberapa kegiatan dari Pemerintah untuk melebarkan jalan.
